Idris Nechirvan Barzani, Founder and President of the Rwanga Foundation, visits the project of planting 20,000 Spanish olive trees to monitor and oversee its progress .This project is one of the Foundation’s flagship environmental initiatives, implemented in partnership with (GIZ).
After 2 years of cultivation and careful supervision, the project officially concluded on 25 May 2025, providing job opportunities for 8 environmentalists, as well as employment for 200 environmental workers and 5 female engineers during the plantation period.
According to the project supervisor, through 3,450 meters of drip irrigation network, supported by Groasis Waterboxx technology and water supplied from special tanks dedicated to the project, the saplings required irrigation only 5 times within 3 months, with each irrigation lasting 9 days. This efficient method contributed significantly to the healthy growth of the saplings while conserving vital water resources.
The Rwanga Foundation will continue to supervise and maintain the olive trees for an additional 2 years, ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of the project.
