
Duhok, KURDISTAN (December 14th, 2017) - German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Rwanga Foundation in partnership with Help Organization held a graduation ceremony for new graduates of Vocational Training in the Duhok governorate. During the ceremony, 62 female and male graduated from four training courses (Mechanic, PVC-Plastic/Aluminum Works, Welding and Computer Maintenance) they were from IDPs, host communities and refugees.
The project aims to develop vocational skills to one thousand female and male youth from the three communities of host community, IDPs and refugees in Duhok, and enable them to enter the job market to support themselves and their families.
The training started on September 19th and ended on November 24th at the Directorate of Vocational Training in Duhok. During this period, 62 young people from host community, IDPs and refugees in Duhok have been trained. ‘‘Four training courses have been delivered, (Mechanic, PVC-Plastic/Aluminum Works, Welding and Computer Maintenance). Additionally, workshops have been held for them as an extra and necessary training (Through Rwanga Foras project)'' Said Afram Sawa, Head of Rwanga Foundation's Duhok office.
After completing the vocational training, the participants were trained on employability skills in order to find a job. One of the trainees of the Computer Course said:“ These courses are important for us to improve our vocational skills, but the time is not enough because these kind of courses require more time to learn.” Said Anahid Yousif Hassan.
On January 2017, The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Rwanga Foundation in partnership with Help Organization together singed a joint project to improve the career opportunities for young people. The project includes vocational training courses on eleven subjects: welding, mobile phone maintenance, carpentry, air-conditioning maintenance, electrics, mechanics, sewing, PVC (Plastic/Aluminum Works), computer, hairdressing and handcrafts.
