
Rwanga Foundation was officially invited to participate in (National Breakfast Prayer) Annual Conference in Washington DC, United States of America. The National Prayer Breakfast is a yearly event held in Washington, D.C., on the first Thursday of February each year, it is designed to be a forum for the political, social, and business elite to assemble and build relationships.
AbdulSalam Medeni, Chief Executive Director of Rwanga Foundation attended the conference accompanied by a Kurdish delegation. Interviews, speeches and seminars were organized for the Kurdish delegation & Rwanga Foundation in order to be aware about Kurdistan’s current situation and the role of the NGOs who are involved in civil society activities from the perspective of how it can increase the support in Kurdistan.
John Hopkins University, in Washington DC organized a seminar for the Kurdish delegation: AbdulSalam Medeni during his speech mentioned: “Democracy entitles values, behaviors and institutions. This needs educating new generations to plant values, practice behaviors and establish strong institutions. Rwanga Foundation inspite of the current situation has taken the challenge on educating the new generation and prepare them to participate in building a new modern society. “It is indeed, youths who will be the future leaders of tomorrow but involving them in the current society is very important and necessary. Empowering them with the right skills to build a better tomorrow and lead it in the best way”. Mr Medeni then added: “Employment is the number one priority for youths in Kurdistan, training them with current market skills and work ethics to bring jobseekers and job providers all together under a common platform. In transition, democracies, government, private sectors and civil society should draw a future map together for a better, secure and a sustainable society. Strong educational system and job opportunities for youth will decrease extremism to a great extent in all its forms”.
Rwanga Foundation’s aim in participating the conference was to attend seminars and connect with the American NGOs who are involved with Kurdistan Region to organize more service activities, whilst opening doors to youth of Kurdistan to get involved in building small startups.
