
Duhok, KURDISTAN (February 25, 2018) - German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Rwanga Foundation, in partnership with Help Organization, delivered a vocational training to improve the career opportunities for more than 140 youth in Duhok Governorate.
The graduation ceremony took place in the Peshmarga Center in the Duhok governorate where 145 beneficiaries, from IDPs and the Host community, graduated from six different courses.
''Many youth, including university graduates, are willing to attend the vocational training to have better job opportunities for themselves and in order to be able to be a better support to their families. It is really good that Rwanga Foundation improves the career opportunities for young people through this project.” said Gohdar Mohammed Salih, Computer Maintenance Trainer.
The courses in Computer Maintenance, AC Repairing, and Electrics were delivered in Duhok city. However, the other three courses of Hairdressing, Sewing and Mobile maintenance were delivered at the Domiz Camp and Kabarto 2 Camp. By the end of the courses, Rwanga Foundation's team delivered workshops to all of the graduates in CV Writing and Interview Skills. After the graduation, 30 of the graduates will have internship programs for one month.
Hizrvan Abdulkareem was one of the graduates and said:“Besides learning computer maintenance, I also got the opportunity to make new friends especially with the IDPs and Refugees with whom we are living in the same country”.
On January 2017, The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Rwanga Foundation in partnership with Help Organization together signed a joint project to improve the career opportunities for young people. The project includes vocational training courses on eleven subjects: welding, mobile phone maintenance, carpentry, air-conditioning maintenance, electrics, mechanics, sewing, PVC (Plastic/Aluminum Works), computer, hairdressing and handicrafts. So far, the total of 20 courses have been delivered and 431 youth graduated.
