Rwanga Foundation Provides Complete Solar Energy System for (Gre Bie) Village – Batifa District, Zakho

Through an environmental project, and as part of its national strategy and commitment to environmental protection and clean energy, Rwanga Foundation has fully transitioned the electricity supply of Gri Bie village, in Batifa District of Zakho Independent Administration, from fuel-based generators to solar power.

The project now provides 754 amperes of electricity, directly benefiting 310 residents. Gri Bie consists of 43 households, a mosque, and a school — all of which are now fully powered by solar energy, ensuring reliable 24/7 electricity.

This initiative not only safeguards the environment in Kurdistan’s villages but also encourages residents to return to their lands. It has a direct impact on boosting agricultural production and strengthening food security across the Kurdistan Region.

In 2025, Rwanga Foundation also delivered solar-powered electricity to Qamish village (Mawat District, Slemani Governorate) and Golak village (Harir District, Erbil Governorate). Looking ahead, the foundation plans to expand similar projects to additional villages, ensuring sustainable energy access and a greener future for Kurdistan.
