
ERBIL, Kurdistan (October 16th, 2017) - Rwanga Foundation with the support of the International School of Choueifat-Erbil distributed school kits, which included a school bag, a textbook, a ruler, a rubber and pencils to Yad Primary School in the Mamzawa neighborhood.
Mamzawa, a neighborhood in Erbil, was facing a financial problem, which could not allow parents to afford and deal with the daily expenses related to studies, such as necessary stationery item, school bags, etc. ''Due to the financial crises, many parents cannot provide their kids with school expenses and needs. We are very grateful to Rwanga Foundation, which provided school kits to our students. We have some 1500 students in this school and we are looking forward to give more support to our students, especially regarding to the school building, which is not very helpful for learning!'' said Bahram Saber, Principal of the school.
Through the school kit distribution, Rwanga Foundation not only seeks to enable children to pursue their education, but also wants to raise awareness about the lack of access to education in the society.
''Today, we distributed 650 packages that included a bag,textbook, ruler, rubber and pencils to 650 students who are in the first,second and third grade!'' said Rebin H. Arif, Senior Field Coordinator at Rwanga Foundation.
During the open house of the Choueifat International School, an amount of 6,000$ could be collected. Later, the school management donated the money to the Rwanga Foundation for using it in the project.
''We are happy that the donation is now answering some of the problems of the needy students. We hope to continue with Rwanga Foundation for similar projects!'' stated Nabil Ismail, Director of Public Relations at SABIS.
Part of the project was to involve Rwanga Volunteers in order to improve their team-work skills and encourage them to actively engage in the community; hence they were a big part of the packaging and distribution of the school’s kits.
