
Dohuk – Kurdistan Region, November 17-18, 2016 Rwanga Foundation participated in the IDP & Refugee Crisis in Kurdistan Region of Iraq Conference.
The two days conference that took place in Dohuk, discussed the increasing number of the IDPs and Refugees arriving Kurdistan Region due to the political crisis and the ongoing war against ISIL in several parts of Iraq and Syria. The conference was organized by Open Think Tank and Konard Adenauer Stiftung.
On November 18, 2016. Rwanga Foundation attended the conference in order to discuss and talk more about the difficulties that the IDPs and the Refugees are facing. Furthermore, it defined the responsibility and the role of the civil society, the Government, and the media in dealing with the current crisis.
The goal of the conference is to acknowledge the existing, multiple points of view regarding problem formulations and possible resolutions of the IDP and Refugee crisis.
Since the establishment of Rwanga Foundation in 2013, it has been working continuously to help and support the IDPs and Refugees that are resident in Kurdistan Region. Rwanga Foundation has distributed food, clothes and daily supplies. Furthermore, it has built schools and kindergartens for kids besides building (Rwanga Community) camp of cabins which is inhabited by 24,000 IDPs from Shingal and its surrounding areas as well as providing several human capacity developing training as a part of the Education sector.
