
ERBIL, Kurdistan (October 19th, 2017) - Rwanga Foundation delivered humanitarian assistance to nearly 700 families, who fled from Kirkuk and its surrounding areas and were accommodated in Erbil.
''Vulnerable groups is one of the sectors of Rwanga Foundation. We believe that providing the basic needs to them is an important step to protect their lives and help them to develop skills and practice their life as a human with access to the basic needs and basic rights. Ever since, Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen families who fled from Kirkuk to Kurdistan due to political conflicts, Rwanga Foundation's Board of Directors decided to provide urgent support to the families. Luckily, we were able to deliver aid to 700 vulnerable families.'' said Zirak Hamad, Director of PR and Media at Rwanga Foundation.
The aid was delivered in four trucks to the vulnerable groups, fled from Kirkuk and it is surrounding areas, which included 2000 mattresses, 2000 blankets, 1000 dippers, 1200 milk cans, 500 Solar Lights and 16800 bottles of water.
A 40 year old women, who preferred her name to be kept anonymous, with eyes full of tears stated :'' We are so grateful to see people of Erbil and Rwanga Foundation for being very kind to us and provided us with aid. We are two families living in one of the unfinished houses without any basic needs!''
Due to the instability in Kirkuk, thousands of families fled from Kirkuk to Erbil and Sulaimany. The majority of these who fled to Erbil were accommodated in the newly built Ashty 2 and Dashty Bahasht residential compounds.
Moreover, the morning of the next day, based on their needs, Rwanga Foundation delivered 1000 breakfast packages to the families and distributed them.
