DUHOK, Kurdistan — In continuing support and financial contributions to families of martyrs, Rwanga Foundation issued more donations in Bahdinan on Sunday starting in Zakho of Duhok governorate. The donations ceremony took place on Sunday 9th August, at the Zakho Municipality Hall.

Contributions within Bahdinan overall will include areas: Duhok (city), Amedi, Akre and Bardarash in the near future.

The father of one martyr, Nashwan Xwaja Nabi, stated “It is heartbreaking to lose a beloved one, but because they sacrificed their life in defending our country I am proud of them.” In an emotional state the father continued, “I hope everyone and especially the KRG look after the martyrs’ families. I would like to tell the youth to not leave the country at this moment since we all need to protect our land.” The KRG’s Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs is the competent government agency in addressing issues related to martyrs.

In March of 2015, Rwanga Foundation began a campaign to support the families of fallen Peshmerga who lost their lives defending Kurdistan. The campaign has benefited people from the Kurdish governorates of Erbil, Sulaimani, Halabja, Kirkuk and Duhok; the total number of families to receive donations is 1,200.
