
Rwanga Foundation, in partnership with the international school of Choueifat Erbil (ISC-Erbil), distributed school bags and stationery items to over 200 students in Tairawa Basic School, a public school located in a high-poverty area in Erbil.
The bags and the stationary items were collected by the Student Life Organisation, a student organisation founded by the student of the International School of Choueifat Erbil.
‘’Students of public schools may not have the chance that we had, therefore we wanted to support them. We collected about 300 school bags (with stationary) on order to give it to the students of public schools.’’ said Lala al-Asadi, Head of the Student Life Organisation.’’ We wanted the students to start their new year with new school bags and new stationary’’.
The aim of this donations was to support the students and educational process in the public schools. ’’Rwanga Foundation, with cooperation of the Education Directory of Erbil, selected four schools. Then our teams visited the schools to see the schools and the students closely. After the evaluation, we selected Tairawa Basic School’’ said Dastan Qadir, Director of Programs at Rwanga foundation. He also added that ‘’ Rwanga Foundation strives to provide a suitable learning environment for students in schools, and strengthen relations between schools and their respective communities.’’
On October 2, 2018, The new school year started. This year a number of 1.7 million students went back to school, and 120 thousand new students joined their first year in school.
The student Life organisation donated 322 school bags (169 for girls and 153 for boys) to Rwanga Foundation. 210 school bags were distributed in the school, and the remaining school bags will be given to orphans or students with autism. Beneficiaries extended thanks and appreciation to the ISC-Erbil and Rwanga Foundation.
