Rwanga Foundation Publishes Six Short Stories

Erbil, KURDISTAN (April 16, 2019) – Rwanga Foundation held a book signing ceremony as the last phase of the Rwanga Book Project to publish six sort stories in which were selected during a competition..

The ceremony was held in Zaitun Library in Erbil where Deputy Minister of Culture and Youth Dr. Salar Osman, writers, readers and over 150 young students  attended. During the ceremony the writer who were selected during the Rwanga Book  Project, and their short stories, were announced. The winner short stories were:

  • (Darin ba Kurdistanda Dagaret) written by Latif Fatih Faraj
  • (Dlgash w Taknalojia ) written by Shireen Ahmed Mzuri
  • (Khawni Papulaiye) written by Parwa Abdulqadir
  • (Kotra Spyakam) written byDanaz Kamaran Khoshnaw
  • (Taknalojia w Zhian) written by Susan Khairi
  • (Rezi Mamosta w Drushmi Pol) written by Salwan Fadhil

The total printed copies of the short stories were 12,000 copies, 2,000 copies for each story.The attendees enjoyed talking with the writers and got free signed books from the writers. After the ceremony, Rwanga Foundation distributes the short stories to the schools and libraries across Kurdistan Region in order to encourage students to read and encourage the culture of reading.

Rwanga Book Project is an annual projects of the Rwanga Foundation. Through the project, Rwanga Foundation encourages writers to participate by writing educational short stories for children mainly aged 8 to 12. The project creates a competition to select the best six written short stories which will be will be published in a coloured book, with 2,000 copies - 12,000 copies in total.
