
KRI (January 2022) - Rwanga Foundation facilitated by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) started conducting diverse training courses for private sector employees all over the KRI as part of the ‘Empowering Young Employees in the Private Sector Through Skills Development in KRI’ project.
The trainings are held with the aim of improving the skills and capabilities of 300 employees in various areas per employee needs, for instance, HR and recruiting management, Financial management, Skill training where employees will gain the knowledge and abilities necessary to fulfill the specific requirements for their job positions in three Kurdistan region governorates (Erbil, Sulaimani, Duhok and Halabja).
The project kicked off with a ‘Marketing training’ conducted in Duhok governorate for two days followed by another 2-day training about ‘Financial Management’ in the same governorate. The two trainings were delivered to a total of 37 private-sector employees.
Two other trainings about ‘Marketing’ were also implemented in Erbil and Sulaimani to 36 participants (16 in Erbil, and 20 in Sulaimani) from the private sector. Moreover, the training courses will continue until the beginning of February and will also cover Halabja governorate to reach its aim of benefiting 300 employees all over KRI.
Kawa Abdulaziz (Marketing Trainer) said: “I am very happy to see youth employees from different backgrounds participate in this Marketing training, they were all very passionate about the subject”.
Rezan (one of the participants) stated: “We learnt many new skills and tricks for the different kinds of marketing. At the same time, it was nice to see employees from different companies who are working in this field”.
The project has consolidated a qualitative finding from evaluation forms, conversations, and stakeholder interviews to learn from private enterprises in KRI regarding opportunities for growth and perceived gaps in skills among the KRI labor force. This project aims to increase the employees' technical skills to enable them to do specific jobs efficiently. These trainings will provide the employees with the opportunity to gain technical knowledge and learn new skills to do specific jobs and increase job-related knowledge and skills.
In partnership with “Rwanga Foundation”, this project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) program “Employment Promotion for IDPs, refugees, returnees and socially deprived households in host communities (P4E – Prospects for Employment)”.
