ERBIL GOVERNORATE, Kurdistan — On Friday, May 15, 2015, two teams from Rwanga Foundation distributed 5,000 flyers and garbage bags to families traveling for picnicking near Shaqlawa, Sheraswar, Tawska, and Hiran.
The flyers offer basic information in Kurdish dialects and English on decomposition rates for various common waste items such as paper, food waste, plastic bags and diapers. Each flyer contains a blue disposal bag and encourages picnickers and tourists to collect and dispose of their own garbage.
Rwanga Foundation will distribute brochures throughout the next month in various areas including Sulaimani and Duhok governorates.
Rwanga Foundation has made environment awareness, waste disposal a priority as seen through the previous, “Keep Kurdistan Clean” initiative whereby trash bins where distributed throughout Kurdistan.
