Sulaimani, KURDISTAN (July 19, 2018)- Darwaza Group and Rwanga Foundation improved the green yards of 15 schools in Sulaimani.
Schools that have green yards, spaces and proper gardens reflect a certain commitment in providing students and academic staff with a satisfactory environment as well as promoting greater physical activities by students. Therefore, more than 5.500 m2 of 15 school green yards had been weeded from debris and other undesired materials in order to plant more than 1.200 various flowers and plants. This Project included 35 volunteers and benefited 10.423 students, teachers and administration staff (9.100 students/ 1.323 educational staff members).
” The project was a combination of improving and enhancing two spirits in the Kurdish society. One of them was to expand fruitful green areas in order to provide a more satisfactory atmosphere for education. While the other one was to promote volunteerism and public services in the community.’’ said Sarko Sabir, Project Coordinator at Rwanga Foundation.
Green spaces are a great benefit to the environment. They filter pollutants and dust from the air, they provide shade and lower temperatures in urban areas, and they reduce erosion of soil into our waterways. Furthermore it nurtures wildlife and creates healthy recreation spaces.
” We really appreciate all the potential which Rwanga put in Sulaimani by supporting the Education Sector. We hope and ask Rwanga to continue their support in Sulaimani.” said Khogr Khalid Ismael, Director of Educational Planning at General Directory of Education in Sulaimani.
