Rwanga IDPs Got Talent

 Duhok, KURDISTAN ( March 6, 2018) - Rwanga Foundation organized a talent show in six camps to explore the talent of the IDPs youth and to bring some joy and dignity to them.

The activity was part of the project of running community social centers in six IDP camps (Kabarto 1, Kabarto 2, Sharia, Bajid Kandala, Rwanga Community and Chamishko) which is funded by GIZ and implemented by Rwanga foundation.

The activity aimed to explore and develop the IDPs talents that have not yet been discovered, and to give them a platform to show their talents. “Discovering those hidden persons/talents and try to highlight them in front of the community make them feel more confident,” said Awaz Saeed, Center Manger and the coordinator of the Rwanga IDPs Got Talent.

The process of selecting six talents from the six camps started during January. The final ceremony took place on March 6th, 2018 in the auditorium of Art Initiation of Duhok University. Venos Hamza, a 16 years old girl from Rwanga Community, won the competition through a paint.

''I was so happy to participate in this event [Rwanga IDPs Got Talent] that made me feel confident and supported''. said Hayder Gernos, one of the candidates.

The six community social centers in six IDP camps funded by GIZ and managed by Rwanga Foundation in close coordination with MOLSA. The aim of the project is to enable the IDPs in the six camps become more self-reliant, connected, active, and have adequate capacity to manage themselves at the family and community level.
