Global Entrepreneurship Week Celebrated in Erbil and Duhok

Erbil and Duhok, KURDISTAN (November 21st and December 3rd) - Mesopotamia Entrepreneurship Platform (MEP) in partnership with the Rwanga Foundation holds the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Erbil and Duhok Governorates. 

On November 21st, the Mesopotamia Entrepreneurship Platform, in partnership with Rwanga Foundation and with the support of the University of Duhok, hosted the Global Entrepreneurship week in Duhok. The event started with presenting several successful entrepreneurship stories of young entrepreneurs. After that, a panel discussion started under the title of: 'How to encourage entrepreneurship spirit and culture among youth in Duhok'.

The panel was moderated by Dr. Rebean Al Silefanee (Founder of the Mesopotamia Entrepreneurship Platform) and lead by the panelists Mr. Abdulsalam Medeni (Chief Executive Director of Rwanga Foundation), Dr. Arif Hito (General Directorate in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs), Dr. Shivan Ahmed Mohammed (specialist in entrepreneurship), and Jeman Saeed (Entrepreneurs). The panel successfully ended with questions and answers from the audience.

Moreover, on December 3rd 2019, the Global Entrepreneurship Week continued celebrating in Erbil.  The event was again organised by MEP in partnership with Rwanga Foundation and sponsored by Kar Group and the University of Kurdistan (UKH). 

Two panels had been presented. The first panel had been held under the title: 'Future of Tech Entrepreneurship in the Kurdistan Region (KRI)'. The panel was moderated by Bilal Said (President of Economy in Numbers Institute) and lead by the panelists Godar Ibrahim (CEO of Awrosoft), Hiwa Afandi (Head of Department of IT, Kurdistan Regional Government), and Shamal Sabah (Deputy IT Manager at the University of Kurdistan (UKH).

Followed by the second panel under the title of ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week Policy: The future is SME & Entrepreneurship’. The panel was moderated by Dr. Heja Sindi (Dean of School of Business at the University of Kurdistan (UKH)) and lead by the panelists Aram Anwar (Director of Youth Project Support Fund), H.E. Mr. Kamal Muslim (Minister of Trade and Industry in KRG) and Abdulsalam Madeni (CED at Rwanga Foundation).

The Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship, founded by the Kauffman Foundation in 2008. It is an international celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch start-ups and bring ideas to life, map out projects for economic growth and human welfare. Each year in November, the GEW celebrates simultaneously in over 170 countries for one week.
